The Bourneuf Corp, a wholesale and retail
distributor of plumbing, heating and industrial products, was founded in 1893 by
Louis Bourneuf, a French-Canadian carpenter, and a local plumber named Frank
Linehan. They opened a shop on Essex Street in Swampscott and the business grew
from there.
In 1902, the company moved to Oxford Street in Lynn. At the Lynn facility,
they introduced a new product invented by an area resident. A hub roof
flange, invented and patented by Fritz Nies, was distributed throughout New
England. Mr. Linehan died in 1930 and Louis Bourneuf passed away in 1950.
Albert Hammer bought the company in 1950 and, in 1955 moved the business to its
current location, 55 Alley Street in Lynn Mass. He worked 30 long years as
President and devoted the business to servicing the wholesale contractors.
In 1982, Albert's son Norman assumed the Presidents' position and Bill Shallow
became Vice President. In 1988, they put
together a major expansion including a new 1500 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse
addition, thereby tripling the available floor space. This was the start of
adding a retail business to the already thriving wholesale business.
In 1997, Bill Shallow pioneered the business into an
Employee Owned Company. He took over the Presidents' position and is the
driving force in the success the business is today.
Bourneuf is strongly supported by the Lynn community. The major thrust of the
business is the trade of plumbers and heating contractors in the area. We
service the professional installer and meet all of the mechanical contractors
needs.
